Services – There will be a service at Tankersley St. Peter’s Church this Sunday at 0930.  This will be the last service by Canon Keith Hale who is retiring after 29 years as Rector of Tankersley.

Age UK – Healthy Living sessions for the over 50’s are held between 1000 and 1200 hours on Wednesday mornings in The Welfare Hall of The Hub.  Activities include armchair exercise and healthy eating. Contact Karen Dennis on 01226 776820 for more details.

Tankersley Community Association – the coffee afternoon continues at 1300 hours on Tuesdays.  Everyone welcome for refreshments, bingo and a chat.  TCA would like to invite anyone interested in becoming involved with the running of the organisation to contact the Secretary on 08989484050.

Tankersley Senior Citizens Group – invite new members.  Activities include a variety of social events and excursions.  Anyone interested should contact Brian Marsden on 01226 746306 or 07947430259

King’s Coronation – Plans for the forthcoming King’s Coronation Celebration are now complete.   As previously stated there will be a ‘Picnic in the Park’ event on Sunday 7th May with children’s attractions, demonstrations, stalls and live music followed by an ‘early evening’ social with live band ‘Zealots’.  For those in good voice there will be a ‘Sing for the King’ karaoke session! It is hoped the event will be outdoors in the Community Green and Pilley Pocket Park. Picnic Boxes are available to order.  The car park adjacent to The Hub will be closed for the day to ensure pedestrian safety and allow for access by emergency services if needed.  All activities are provided free of charge with support from Tankersley Parish Council and Tankersley Community Association. There will be a Royal themed activities day in and around St. Peter’s Church on Monday 8th May. This promises to be a great day with a wide range of activities for both young and old.  Residents are encouraged to walk to these events if at all possible in order to reduce traffic and car parking congestion.  Anyone interested in volunteering to help should contact John Hopkinson via made2measuremusic@yahoo.com. – or by phone on  07980200365.

The Hub Tuck Shop will be open on 1300 and 1600 hours on weekends – weather permitting.  Tea, coffee, soft drinks, ice creams and confectionary all available whilst visiting Pilley Pocket Park.

Tankersley Community Green – The former bowling green is now being managed by Tankersley Community Association and is available to hire for outdoor events.  Details are available from the Secretary.
