Tankersley News Week Commencing 24/11/22

Services – There will be a United Service at St. Leonards, Wortley at 10.30 on Sunday 30th October.  There will be no services at Tankersley.

Afternoon Tea – continues as normal at 13.00 hours on Tuesday afternoons.  Everyone welcome.

The Annual Tankersley Parish Bonfire and Firework Display are confirmed to be held on Saturday 5th November.  Admission is free and refreshments and licensed bar will be available.  Volunteers for wood collection and bonfire building on 4th and 5th November are being sought.  Contact Catherine – clerk@tankersleypc.org for more details.

Age UK – Healthy Living sessions for the over 50’s are held between 1000 and 1200 hours on Wednesday mornings in The Welfare Hall of The Hub.  Activities include armchair exercise and healthy eating. Contact Karen Dennis on 01226 776820 for more details.

Tankersley Welfare Hall – Halloween Children’s Party – The event on Saturday 29th October is now sold out.  Sadly, due to capacity restrictions imposed by fire regulations, no-one can be allowed in without a wrist band. This year’s event will also include a ‘pumpkin carving’ competition on the Community Green commencing at 5.00 pm

A food fair by Targ Romanox-Unguresc will be held in Welfare Hall of the Hub on Sunday 30th October between 10.00 and 18.00 hours. Some fabulous foods available so come along and enjoy!

Whispering Souls present a night of mediumship with Sharron Gibbins in The Hub on Saturday 19th November – something to look forward to!

The Welfare Hall is now re-branded as ‘Tankersley Hub’ with the launch of a web site – visit www.tankersleyhub.com for hiring and contact details and a calendar of upcoming events.  Details of future events will be publicised.

‘Coffee with a Councillor’ – BMBC Councillors Robert Barnard and John Wilson will be in the Hub Conservatory between 10.00 and 12.00 on Saturday 5th November to meet with residents to discuss any local issues of concern. Come along for a chat and a free coffee in our new and comfortable environment!
Winter Warmer – The Mothers’ Union and the people of St. Peter’s Church welcome you to a warm place, hot soup, and the opportunity to get out and make new friends. You are invited to the Senior Citizens Room at Tankersley Hub, from 12.00 until 2.00 p.m. every Thursday from 10th November to the 15th December. Come and join us. Stop shivering and discover the comfort of this warm community space.
The Hub Tuck Shop is now open on weekends.  Refreshments available for all to enjoy.  The newly refurbished conservatory will be open to provide shelter in the event of inclement weather.  Card payments are now accepted! Opening times will be 1300 to 1600 hours weather permitting.

Tankersley Community Green – a ‘Task Force’ of local residents have been working hard again this week to improve the condition of the green and the pavilion – everyone is welcome to be involved.  The former bowling green is now being managed by Tankersley Community Association and is available to hire for outdoor events.  Details are available from the Secretary.
