Year Review – Tankersley Community Association and ‘The Hub’ (Welfare Hall)

Tankersley Community Association and ‘The Hub’ (Welfare Hall)

Tankersley Community Association continues to grow from strength to strength with the range of events during the past year proving the value of the resource to the local community.  Sadly, the poor weather during last summer put a ‘dampener’ on some outdoor events planned for the Community Green.  Nevertheless, TCA Committee is not deterred and has pleasure in promoting similar events during 2024.

The 8-strong committee, aided by an increasing number of volunteers, work tirelessly to ensure the long term viability of the hall, community green and associated resources.  TCA is financially secure and has grown a substantial ‘reserve’ to fund future repairs, improvements and developments.

During the past year we are proud to have hosted, in partnership with other organisations, a wide range of regular activities including: – dance, gymnastics, taekwondo, calligraphy, art, dog training, Age UK healthy living, tots to toddlers playgroup, open house coffee afternoon and Mother’s Union socials.  TCA volunteers also run the ‘Tuck Shop’ serving refreshments to people visiting the neighbouring Pilley Pocket Park – obviously this is seasonal and weather dependent.

In addition the Welfare Hall regularly hosts private social events such as wedding receptions, parties, Christenings, baby showers and funeral wakes etc.

TCA have adopted an inclusive policy of promoting social events for the benefit of all within the villages of Pilley and Tankersley.  Recent events include popular themed discos, live band performances and children’s parties.

Other local organisations such as Tankersley Parish Council, TPEG and St. Peter’s Church hold regular meetings in the hall.

The facilities are available for private hire at what we believe to be the cheapest rates in the area (see below).

Fees

Welfare Hall with kitchen, sound system and adjoining side room – £16/hour
